The Creative Process / Illustration Timeline -
Watching something get created out of nothing is so wonderful!
- First there is just an idea.
- This idea becomes a story, which becomes a storyboard sketch.
- The artist takes this rough sketch and makes a pencil drawing.
- The artist first inks the drawing, then fully colors the drawing.
- This is how a beautiful color illustration is created. WOW!

Where Did “Scary Chimp” Go? -
Chimp has gone through a lot of changes from his original character to the illustrations for Class Clown 1 & 2. He started out with a bright yellow body, bright red hair and very red eyes. Then we found out that some children found him quite scary.
A decision was made to make Chimp over with "warmer" colors and be a bit "friendlier". Of course, as soon as this change was made, certain fans told us that they prefered "Scary Chimp" and his original harsh colors. So, here is the history in pictures of how Chimp has changed, and how we plan to keep "friendly" Chimp in the stories, and "Scary Chimp" on certain products like t-shirts.

Reading Levels -
The stories have been written at 3 different reading levels for your enjoyment. Reading levels do not mean what grade you are in, or your age group. They simply allow you to get different things out of the stories. Sometimes you may want to read a story quickly. Other times you may want to read a longer story. I would also like to add that I am not a teacher, just someone who enjoys writing these stories and seeing the Kidz be a part of them.
- Reading Level 1 - has smaller words and less words. It is perfect for you if you don't have a lot of time. It allows you to get through the story quickly.
- Reading Level 2 - has more story details and more words.
- Reading Level 3 - has the most words, some harder words, includes more description, and will take the longest time to read.
