Punky wishes her best friend Elena was home. But Elena and her family are out. So what is she going to do with herself all day? 

When Punky walks by Wolfinna's house, she stops to see if Little Minnie is outside. But Minnie - the cutest cat in the world - is inside. Punky can see her sleeping on the window sill. She wants to knock on the door and play with Little Minnie. But her Mom told her that she is not allowed to knock on the door to pet another family's cat. Punky doesn't know why, but that's the rule. 

When Punky goes into her house, she sees her brother Parker leave with his friends. She goes out to the back and sees Parker running down the hill with his two friends, Pandish and Rusty. Of course, Punky wants to go with them.

"Parker, wait up!" she hollers. "Wait for me!"

But they keep running down the hill into the valley. 

"Parker, wait! Or I'm telling Mom!" 

Punky runs to her mother who is speaking on the phone with someone. 

"Mom! Parker won't play with me," Punky says.

But Mom tells Punky to hush. 

"Can't you see I'm on the phone?" Mom says. "You'll just have to play alone today."

Punky then tries to listen to what her mom is saying. But she is talking too fast and using big words. 

"That's not fair," Punky says. "I can't understand you when you talk fast."

Mom just shakes her head at Punky. But Punky keeps repeating herself to her mother. Mom finally sends Punky to her room for a time-out.
