Benny wants a vegetable poster too. Hopefully a vegetable game - since he doesn't want Chimp to be the only one who has a game for the class presentation. 

So Benny asks Chimp to make up a vegetable game for his own poster. Chimp thinks about it for a bit. He looks at Benny's drawings of vegetable gardens to get ideas.

Chimp finally comes up with a game for Benny.

"How about if we make all sorts of vegetables that the player can "plant" in an empty vegetable patch? We can make lots of paper vegetable pieces so the players will have to plant A LOT of vegetables." 

"Yeah!" Benny agrees enthusiastically. "Lots of vegetables!"

Chimp tries to sketch his ideas out for Benny, but Chimp isn't very good at drawing. So Benny draws an empty vegetable garden. He decides that he wants to "plant" carrots, string beans, and corn in the vegetable patch game. But, this time, it is Chimp who complains that Benny's game doesn't make sense. 

"If you're planting vegetables, how come you have corn in your garden? Corn's not really a vegetable, it's a grain," Chimp states. He feels that Benny disagreed with his fruit ideas so now he finds something to disagree about Benny's vegetable ideas.

Benny thinks about what Chimp is saying and explains his choices. 

"It's fun to grow corn. We can tell the class that corn's a grain, but that we included it in our garden anyway." 

Chimp finally agrees to this idea and they continue making their second game.

Tammie and Tamrie are still watching them, and Tamrie has a really great idea this time. She suggests that they could turn Benny's game into a multiplication game. They could put in three rows of carrots with six carrots planted in each row. That would be labeled 3 x 6 = 18. Then they could plan for four rows of string bean vines, with three vines in each row, labeled 4 x 3 = 12. Finally, there would be eight corn stalks planted, and that would be labeled 8 x 2 = 16. Tammie holds up the vegetable poster and points while Tamrie stands behind her and explains it. Benny jumps for joy when he sees how good his game is going to be. He is so happy now that he also has a poster game for the class. Chimp scowls because he wanted to be the only one to have a poster game. It was his idea first, not Benny's!

The two boys work on coloring and cutting out all the fruit and vegetables for the poster games. Benny draws, colors and cuts carefully, but it takes him a long time to finish. Chimp works quickly, and his coloring and cutting are not nearly as neat as his teammate's. Chimp keeps scolding Benny for being "too slow" and Benny keeps scolding Chimp for rushing and being "too messy". Together, somehow, they finish their posters.

When they are done with creating all their pieces for their posters, they put the pieces in two envelopes to keep organized. They practice speaking about their topic and are finally done.
